Site Down...But We are Working on it!

Sorry everyone, our server had a power outage and we are working like crazy to fix it. We should be back to normal soon.

New to the Digital Scrapbooking and Design World? Then you probably want to ask...

What program do you use?
I get this question on a daily basis through the store.
The short answer: I use Adobe Photoshop Creative Suite.

And Adobe Photoshop Elements 11

About Adobe Photoshop Creative Suite
Now onto the long answer: I started digital scrapbooking and tried numerous programs before I broke down and bought photoshop. I kept thinking surely there is something I can use other than photoshop, but really in the digital world it can't be matched. You have incredible flexibility, there are thousands of tutorials available online and a lot I mean A LOT of other people use it. Which means there are many freebies like brushes and shapes that are compatible with photoshop that you can use.

Photoshop can seem a bit daunting at first. My first experience with photoshop was a frustrating 10 minutes just trying to figure out how to crop a photo! If I had been smart I would have read some of the help info or checked out a book on photoshop at the library. If you are good at navigating the computer and you want to have full creative control of your layouts photoshop is for you. I highly recommend downloading a trial version to try it out.

About Adobe Photoshop Elements
If you do not plan to design your own elements and you basically want to be able to use items created by others to create scrapbook pages or cards etc. Photoshop Elements is a great option. It has easy to use photo enhancements and the newest version is even integrated with Facebook and other online sites to make it easy to share your photos and scrapbook layouts or get them printed. (clicking on the image will take you to Amazon where you can watch multiple videos about the features in Photoshop Elements).

Easter Bunny Frame Freebie!

This freebie is so easy to use, just open in word or photoshop. Add your text. It could be names for place settings or the names of dishes for a buffet (just make sure your text is facing the same way as the bunnies). Then print and cut out. I used a fancy corner punch on mine to dress them up a bit more. I plan on using them to put next to each family members Easter basket Easter morning. Enjoy! And be sure to sign up for our matching Easter Banner Giveaway.

Layout Share: Living History

I love when a group of pictures tells the story of what happened so well that you don't have to journal much. I wanted to make the pictures the main focus so I used the Subtle Cream Paper Pack for this layout and didn't add too many embellishments.

What I'm Working On This Week: Gathered Ribbon Rainbow Set

I have a very long list of sets I want to put together for the rainbow collection. The Rainbow Collection is a line of paper packs and clipart sets that use the same 15 classic colors. This makes it so easy to mix and match items from any of the sets. This week I am working on a Gathered Ribbon set. I think there are so many great possibilities with these. You could add a cute embellie in the center or a brad or some bling. The sky's the limit!

Watch for it this Friday. Remember new kits debuted on Friday are always offered at half off which is just $1! Here is a little sneak peek:

Layout Share: Crazy Cool

My sister sent me these pictures of her and Aiden hanging out. I thought they were so fun. I love seeing him build relationships with my siblings especially since he doesn't have older siblings.

I used the Rock On Baby Boy Kit to create this layout.

Little Miss Monkey Paper Pack Just $1!

Well with my husband's birthday this week I knew getting two paper packs done was a bit optimistic. I almost have the boy version of this paper pack done. So hopefully I'll be adding it this week.

But I love how this paper pack turned out! I think it would be so cute to use with pictures of kiddos at a playground.

Just $1 this week!

What I am Working On: This Little Monkey

Another custom request through etsy has prompted a set. I recieved a request for some girly papers with monkeys and turtles. I thought they turned out so cute that I am working on a full set of 20 papers in 12x12 to go with them.

I am also going to try to do a boy version of this paper pack as well. I am always calling my boys Little Monkeys and they would be fun papers to use with all those funny snapshots of them upside-down. Both of them love hanging upside-down.

This is what I have come up with so far:

Layout Share: Shark Attack

This is my latest layout. I wish the photos I had taken got the entire shark, but I couldn't back up far enough to get it. Oh well! This layout used papers from the Water and Sunshine Paper Pack and Ombre Chevron Paper Pack. The seashell embellies are from the Beachside Embellishment Set.

Budding Artist?

I just have to share the work of my budding artist! Aiden is six and usually I work on digital designs in the afternoon while he is at school and Kian (1) is napping. But these last couple of weeks we had a few snow days, so Aiden was home while I was working on the Little Firefighter kit. He told me he wanted to draw something on the computer too, so I set up paint for him. It wasn't until this morning though that he showed me what he had made.

Here is a picture of the kit for comparison:

 Aiden's Emergency Cone
Aiden's Fire Alarm

Aiden's fireman hose

What a good eye he has! And he did these in Paint! I think I may be hiring him to help me out. It also surprised me how much he must have been paying attention to what I was doing even though it didn't seem like he was. I wonder how many other things he has noticed that I didn't think he had picked up on...

What I'm Working On: Kraft Paper Vintage Inspired Labels

The fashion world is an endless source of inspiration for digital designs for me. And vintage design always has such unique features and ideas to draw from. I came across this great jean label:
And this label from a 1970's Dress:
And this label from the 1960's

Aren't they works of art in their own right? These are the inspiration for the Kraft Label Set I am creating this week. Be sure to stop by Friday to see what I came up with.
